AURORAE YOGI TIPS

1) Wash your mat down with a soft brush and a tablespoon of dishwashing liquid or detergent mixed with warm water then rinse off. I usually do this in the shower if I can't do it outside and hang over my shower rod to dry. Repeat if necessary.

2) Hang dry outside if possible. DO NOT PUT IN DRYER.

3) Another tip from a yogi was to mix white vinegar and warm water, about a 4 to 1 ratio and wipe your mat down with a sponge then let dry.

4) To keep your mat fresh and clean mix fresh lemon with water in a spray bottle. You can use this to naturally clean your mat while also giving it a fresh natural scent. Do as needed after use.

5) Wash your hands with soap and water before class to reduce any natural oils in your hands.

6) Do not use creams or oils on your hands or feet before your practice.

7) Always keep a cotton towel* (available by Aurorae) near you to wipe away any perspiration.

8) If necessary use an Aurorae Yoga Rosin Bag to absorb any perspiration and increase gripping power.

Tremendous Yoga Mat - Really is thick and no funky smell
I recently decided it was time to upgrade my yoga mat to something a bit more high quality and came across this one. So far I have been very impressed. The quality of the mat is really remarkable for the price point and i really love what a great job they have done with this. You can tell this was developed by people who actually do practice yoga.

PROS
1) The knee pain i used to get on my old (thin) mat is gone. I have used this on a variety of different surfaces (including the hard floors at the local studio) and no issues.
2) The rubbery smell that I also had to deal with on my old mat is now gone. I followed Aurorae's recommendations and put a little lemon on.
3) Been using for a few months now and no durability/wear issues.
4) No staining of clothes. My last mat left a slight residue that would be seen on lightly colored clothing.
5) Price - $80 for a Manduka mat??? No way. This is better quality for a fraction of the price.

CONS
None but will update if I find anything.

I would recommend this one to any yoga enthusiast. Great product and well worth the money at this price point.

SLIPPED AT 1ST BUT CUSTOMER SERVICE A REAL HELP
I purchased my Aurorae mat last week and fell in love the with colors as well as the Focal Icon. Delivery was quick and exactly what I ordered. When I 1st used my mat I had some trouble with slipping. I came home and left a message on the support line. Within 24 hours I received an e mail from the owner of the company with an explanation and tips on how to resolve the problem. He suggested that I wash the mat with hot water and quality detergent in the washing machine, then hang dry outside. He then advised me that if I was a serious yogi and sweat a lot to make sure my hands had no cream and to wash them with soap before Class. The last thing he suggested is that I keep a towel and maybe some powder next to me in class to keep my hands and feet dry.
I am happy to say that his suggestions worked and though I don't believe there is a perfect mat without slipping, these suggestions really helped especially the powder and towel.
Most impressed that he took the time to get back to me in such detail and offering me a few solutions.

Serious mat - it's mine & I'm not sharing it
My last yoga mat became family property. My daughter used it for her gymnastics practice, my son used it for his karate warm-ups and if I was lucky enough to find it, I got to use it for myself. Well, they can have my old mat & I'm hiding my new Aurorae mat. It's great for my mat Pilates, no more feeling like I'm rolling up on cement with my old flimsy mat. It's much more comfortable on the back and knees. The longer length is helpful too especially on days when I attend yoga in the park on a cement slab by the lake. What a great buy for the price!
